Inkjet Refills
Anyone know anything about refilling ink cartridges? I have an Epson NX515 printer that I got last year and I need ink...the price for new cartridges is outrageous. Was looking into getting them refilled or buying a kit so you can refill yourself? What you think? Is it good or bad? Can you refill any cartridge?

Re: Inkjet Refills
ok i'll be serious this time... i have seen it be more expensive to buy new cartridges then to just buy a whole new printer... i was trying convene how ridiculous the prices are. lol
as for refilling, i have no idea how that's done or if it's even possible..
i suspect it would involve needles and ink... the needles, to inject the ink into the cartridges, i think through a little pinhole which is like a few nanometers wide...

Re: Inkjet Refills
It's true! The printer/scanner I bought 4 years ago was $54.99. To replace the black cartridge, it's $21.99 and the color is $24.99. The printer is awesome, quiet, and fast. Not so great for printing photos, but I don't bother with photo printing anyway.
As for refilling cartridges, I have never done it personally and I hear it's messy as hell, time consuming, and potentially disastrous! Not all cartridges are refillable, either. Sometimes you can refill them and they 'seem' fine...until they pretty much burst inside your printer during a printing job and destroys the whole unit.
Whether all this is 100% true or correct, I cannot say. That's what they told me to tell customers when I worked at Future Shop...even though we sold ink refilling kits.
If you do decide to buy a new printer, you should consider buying a laserjet printer instead of an inkjet...but only if you print text and in black and white. A toner cartridge can run you as little as $49.99 and has a print yield of approximately 1500 pages, where most normal sized inkjet cartridges only produce 200-400 pages.
Something to consider, anyway!

yeah i forgot to mention the laserjets... they are much more efficient with ink cartridges, a toner cartridge should last you like a year at least, unless you print a whole lot.
