Installing ubuntu...repartition suggestions.

Post by weedguru_animal » Sun May 02, 2010 8:51 am

I have a 320gb HD...with currently only windows 7 installed. I wish to install Ubuntu 10.04 and am firstly considering partitions.

Is it best for me to have one partition for Windows 7 system files, one partition for all my files, and a third for ubuntu. If so, what sizes are advised???

A bit late, but still...

I would suggest 15-20 GB for Win7, 10-15 for Ubuntu, and the rest to your Storage partition. The storeage partition should be formatted NTFS for compatibility, or FAT32 for even more compatibility. But NTFS should be fine, since Ubuntu comes with the ntfs-3g driver already installed. Linux can access windows partitions, but not vice-versa.
