Home Security Surveillance System

Post by Weedguru Higher » Sun Sep 02, 2012 12:09 am

I've got a question or 2 for you WG techies out there..

Yesterday I picked up an outdoor home surveillance kit with 2 cameras and a wireless screen. It's a Uniden UDW10055 system. I hooked up one of the cameras outside, and it works fine. The other camera, I want to install inside, but looking through my front window. In daylight, it works fine, gives a great image. But as soon as it gets dark outside it won't work, as the night vision led lights make a reflection on the glass, creating a totally unviewable image. Is there anyway to like turn off those LED lights, or anything else that would allow me to get a good image without the light reflection? There's street lights outside, so I don't even need the LEDS to see a good image at night. Any suggestions?

Besides just sticking it outside the window, idk... if it comes with software there might be the option to turn of night vision somewhere...

Ya, I thought of that, but I can't really do that. My solution was to cut out a piece of cardboard and place it over the lens, with of course a hole for the camera in the middle. Works good

sometimes, the low-tech solutions work the best.

are you allowed to have cameras monitoring a public road?

I dunno...that's actually a good question but it doesn't matter though cause the cameras monitor my yard and driveway, not the road
