Laptop DVD Drive

Post by Weedguru Higher » Tue Dec 07, 2010 11:51 pm

I have an HP DV6000 laptop and the other day I managed to break a piece off the center thingy in the drive that holds the disk in place. ( I mean the black plastic round thing that clips the disks in place..)Now it's not reading disks right...only works like 2 times on 10 and makes quite a racket too. What I want to know is if this piece can be bought and replaced or do I need a new drive?

not sure if it's worth fixing or if anyone even does that, but DVD drives are what.. like 20 bucks now? I'd be surprised if they do have repair parts for drives seeing as how cheap they are

Mines a DVD burner and I was quoted 80 bucks on the phone at the pc shop. I've found one elsewhere for 30 bucks used since though
