5 gallon water cooler method

Post by greenteam » Mon Mar 13, 2006 3:01 am

I am thinking that I am going to try to put one of those 5 gallon water drums into the ground upside down and put the plant down into the bottom of it where the cap would have been. The idea I'm going for is for the plant to be protected from deer/insects/rodents/ and also prying eyes wouldn't see a huge plant growing up. But it would still have succifient room to grow in girth inside the drum.

Has anyone else here done this? Is it a good method?

I think it will suffocate the plant.

I plan on poking holes in the bottom of the container and also slicing the entire container bottom off so it is detachable and I can prune the plant when needed
