Yep works well when done right, the lower shoots that u don't snip is to keep the branch alive,if the branches dies the plant dies..another words try and keep a few shoots on each main branch to keep enough plant material moving through the stems keeping them from drying out n dying.

I'm high...

And as for the roots, the plant grows a new set of roots when re vegged

Looking great, they're all looking healthy and happy in the setup. Any chance of a root shot?

Lmao and to the question about the height I just finally understood ,u can cut almost everything but leave the last node or two on every branch so that those nodes/shoots can grow back also it keeps the sap/plants fluids running through the branches keeping the plant from dying, look at my clone grow log, they will grow ugly leafs for awhile then they will branch out like crazy with out any topping or training,it's not to hard just takes time

Now, is that 'without taking into consideration there's going to be lower buds on the vine to feed the plant as it goes through it's "shock" cycle, or a replacement form of... ( a source of nourishment)?

I'm high and not fully functional at the moment,so if I'm wrong correct me..
The lower buds/branch/node r whatever is all the same as long as u have at least 1 bud/branch/node on the lowest part of the plant or branch it will eventually grow new shOots from these parts left behind...
