Watertower Skyscrapper / H3AR
An alien looking solution for possibly the most barren and dangerous place on the earth.
These watertowers are designed as buildings rather than simple towers... attempting to unite
a peoples divided by race and religion, through a simple goal- finding water.
Including schools, hospitals and food storage, these giant pumps are an idea (not a contract)
to help a suffering nation

I really like this greek apartment refurbishment.
The architects essentially put a secondary floor into the apartment 400mm above the existing floor, then
folded and moulded it to create furniture including seating and bookcases. very creative.

House of Integration / FORM | Kouichi Kimura
Simply a beautiful house.
Simple and Elegant. Using lines of sight for both internal and external space.
Mixing traditional Japanese with Modern (or Modernist?) Japanese Architecture

City of Utrecht in the Netherlands has developed a large complex, Cultuurcampus Vleuterweide, where half of the floor plan is taken up by a school and a sports facility, and the other half includes 55 residences, a church, cultural center, theater, and a library.

It is the internet “café” of the info centre/library that sparked our imagination with its bulky, woody mass and colorful, folkloric embellishments. Wouldn’t it be amazing if more internet cafes paid this much attention to design?

Light House Cinema, Dublin
reat surroundings will not camouflage poor programming in movie theatres. No matter how swanky the theatre, if it shows poor movies, we just won’t go. Which isn’t to say that we have given up on movie-theatre design. We still wish that one day, somewhere, someone is going to design a decidedly different, interesting and exciting movie theatre.

that metro in barcelona is super futuristic :) nice pics people!
Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we would all be running around darkened rooms, munching magic pills, and listening to repetitive electronic music.

TTN House / Miyahara Architect Office
House TTN was designed to accommodate three families – the parents and the families of their two daughters. They had decided to live together again with the birth of grandchildren. Thus, the main objective for House TTN is to provide the necessary functions for an “urban” extended family, accommodating the needs of modern nuclear families who have grown accustomed to independent life but have chosen to enjoy the benefits of being part of a large family.
The first request for this project was to have a sort of collective residence to accommodate three homes, a plan which would completely separate the families within the same building. However, after much thought on how to maximize convenience, the effective and rational use of the site, and the pleasure of each other’s company, House TTN decided to take a semi-independent, sharing approach.

Taj Hotel Competition Entry / Yazdani Studio
LA based architects Yazdani Studio shared with us the Taj Lands End Hotel competition entry in Mumbai, India.
In a single sweeping gesture, the “wave” gathers the multitude of public and private spaces within the new hotel into a seamless composition, immediately iconic against the rectilinear skyline of Mumbai. This graceful arc also echoes the form of multiple bays that make up the city’s western edge, and makes visual reference to the new Sea Link Bridge adjacent to the site.

Freshwater House / Chenchow Little
The Freshwater House developed the idea of the operable façade to mediate between the requirements for privacy and shading on a relatively public site adjacent to the beach.
The resulting building is made up of three distinct parts; a podium base, a garden/ living space, and a bedroom volume clad with operable screens; each designed with unique spatial and material qualities.

Footbridge in Maribor / Ja Studio + Tadj-Farzin Studio
Proposal by Toronto-based Ja Studio in collaboration with Tadj-Farzin Studio that revisits the idea of the bridge as a multi-functional urban surface. The 150 meter long bridge, fit for cycling and walking, resolves its geometry between the structural issues of crossing and spanning and the functional opportunities that may potentially arise from the structural necessities.

Porciúncula de la Milagrosa Chapel / dave Bonilla Arquitectos
dave Bonilla Arquitectos’s latest project is an open chapel in La Calera, Colombia that is gently nestled into the surroundings. The simplicity of the geometry adds a touch of elegance to the pious space, as the natural features of the environment, wind and light, create “an essential harmony.”
The design appeases both small private groups and large public functions as large doors can transform the chapel from a still volume to a “mobile space”. This relationship represents “the passage between two worlds, between the known and the unknown, the light and the darkness.
